- The IPMS San Diego met on August 26 at the Veterans Memorial Center & Museum in San Diego. Three of our members reported their comments on the IPMS Nationals that happened earlier in the month. Members brought a substantial number of models for Show 'n Tell.

President Tony Bunch opened the meeting,
apologizing for not having collected statistics
from the IPMS Nationals yet.

Secretary Joel Hendricks made his monthly

a report on Skip Sample's health improvement.

Coronado Library's Exhibit Curator Candice
Hooper made her monthly report, including
the date of the exhibit's switch to the next
Naval Aviation history period. |
Rex McCoy showed the latest IPMS-USA
magazine which includes his article on the
Coronada Library Make 'n Take. |

Gary also had a special award that he brought
back from the IPMS National for Manny Gutsche.

Manny's award recognizes his contribution in helping IPMS-USA with historical references.

Gary's PB4Y-2 Privateer brought him the
"Centennial of Naval Aviation Award" for Best US
Navy Aircraft. Congratulations Gary!

Tony brought this 1/350 scale U-96, "Surface,
man the deck gun!" Revell Type Vll U-Boat with
many added details to island, scratch-built
railings and weapons. This model took 1st place
in category 415B at 2011 IPMS National
Convention. Congratulations, Tony!

resin multi-media kit by Yankee Modelworks
with added sail, scopes and deck details. This
model took second place in category 416 of the
2009 IPMS National Convention. |

Rex brought a 1/72 PV-1 Ventura in US Navy
colors but with British markings. Rex
experiments with spinning-looking props by
printing layered Photoshop images on clear
decal sheet. Very realistic effect!

Jerry Jackson resumed work on this 1/700
Aoshima IJN Isokase Destroyer that features PE
parts from Eduard.

Mike Potter is working on a 1/700 USS Missouri
that will be in 1944 configuration. Mike wants
to make it the best 1/700 Missouri ever. |
David Nielsen just started work on a 1/350
Tamiya USS Fletcher. David is unhappy with
the deck and is working on a solution.

released for the 2011 IPMS Nationals.

Ethan Idenmill brought two 1/1250 scale ships,
the USS Ticonderoga and USS Harry W. Hill,
with added railings and PE parts. |

deck Spacecraft Carrier, from the Battleship
Yamato series, getting close to completion.

Jose Gonzalez brought a set of rare 1960's soft
plastic toy figures that he found in Mexico City. |
Dany Galgani brought his almost finished 1/24 MPC 1968 Olsonite Eagle, with Detail Master
seat belts and buckes, decals from Indycal, and
scratch-made exhaust wing and supports.
