Captain Richard Dann joined the meeting to talk about the Navy Centennial celebration coming up next year. |
Also talking about upcoming events, Dan King reminded everyone of the Minicon happening the following day. |
Dan shows the model that is to be the subject of a competition between modelers. |
And Dan Covey talked about the Winter Fest coming up in December. |
Craig Burke brought his finished 1/700th scale USS Enterprise CV-6, complete with all-wooden deck made from Douglas fir planks salvaged from the original carrier in 1958. |
Craig's aircraft carrier has loads of details. |
Now smartly protected under a clear show case. |
Rex McCoy brought his hand-painted A-1 Skyraider, weathered and finely detailed, including pilot and folding wings. |
Rex shows the underside of his aircraft, with fuel tanks, bombs and landing gear bay detail. |
Manny Gutsche brought a model that he had build over 40 years ago... |
...the Moon Bus, from the SciFi classic 2001, A Space Odyssey. Manny also brought and showed the contents of the newly re-released kit of the same model. |
Marion Canizaro brought his work-in-progress 1/24 Tamiya Jordan 191 F1 car. Beautiful detail, carbon fiber decals... |
Body panels have their basic paint, awaiting for decals. Cockpit tub sits properly on the chassis. |
Tim Latham brought several elements that will be in a future diorama. |
A German officer, with beautiful light and shadow effects, typical of Tim's artistic work. The WWII truck will find its place in the diorama. |
Tim also brought a completed small diorama, a WWII soldier walking through a war-damaged area. |
Jerry Jackson brought two railroad engines and explained how he builds these beautiful pieces from very basic kits. |
Jerry' is a renown weathering specialist, as these photos can attest. |
Richard Abraham brought a non-started 1/48 Trumpeter SU-24M, a highly detailed (and expensive) kit, with tons of weapons to choose from. |
President Tony Bunch shows kits from L'Arsenal. |
Tony also brought his work-in-progress, 1/700th scale USS Honolulu. |
As usual with Tony's work, accuracy of the model is the top priority, and implies adding tons of tiny details. |
Ethan Idenmill brought a Cylon Raider model, fromt the sci-fi TV show Battlestar Galactica. Ethan scratch-built the otherwise blocked-out canopy and the now visible cockpit, complete with crew members. |
