- The fourth annual San Diego IPMS Model Expo was held on June 6, in conjunction with the San Diego Air & Space Museum’s Model Swap meet. As in the past, the event was held at the Museum’s Annex at Gillespie Field. This year the weather cooperated with partially cloudy skies and much cooler temperatures.
- The show went off without a hitch and 89 modelers brought 339 models to this year’s contest, which filled the contest room quite nicely. The Museum had well over 40 vendor tables filled with all types of plastic and other related items for those looking for modeling bargains.

Best Figure Award to Jim Stute. Best Ship Award to Jerry Jackson. Best Auto Award to Jason Boatmun. 
Tom Augustine Award for Best Auto, to Jesse Chavez Best Junior Award, to Kellee Rotun and Ron Hornaday Jr. Joel Hendricks presents the Best of Show Award. 
Jim Wechsler helps Joel with the heavy trophy. And the Best of Show Award goes to Jason Boatmun. Congratulations from President Tony Bunch.
